Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday reiterated Israel's objection to a multilateral French peace initiative, calling on Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas to meet with him and hold direct talks instead. "I'm willing to come to the Élysée Palace and have a one-on-one conversation with Abbas, with all issues on the table, including the settlements," Netanyahu told a joint press conference with French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, who is visiting Israel.
The French initiative, which calls for an international peace conference, "will not encourage peace between Israel. It's impossible to reach peace n international forums like the UN, where there's an attempt to dictate conditions," Netanyahu said. Read more.
