Crif at the ADL Never is Now conference in New York

The Never is Now conference from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) was held from March 3rd to 5th in New York. Crif attended and participated in the different panels.

Thousands of people were gathered for the Never is Now conference organized by ADL. Framed by two major plenary sessions, the conference offers tens of exchange times and interventions of political and public figures.

Benjamin Allouche, member of Crif Director Board, and Marie-Sarah, Head of International affairs at Crif, took part in these two days of conference. They notably had the chance to exchange views with all over the world Jewish communities’ representatives and share best practices.

ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt took the floor on the main plenaries, calling for the commitment of each and every one, underlying that ADL’s missions remain the same, whatever the political and geopolitical upheavals we are experiencing.

Among the prestigious plenary speakers was actress Gal Gadot who pronounced a marking speech on pride and jewish identity.

Another impressive speaker was the actor David Schwimmer who called on the world's Jewish artists to stand up against antisemitism and denounce it without blushing.

The day before Never is Now, ADL held its National Leadership Summit. Marie-Sarah was invited to participate in one of the panels and underlined the Crif concern regarding antisemitism at school:

“I would also like to draw attention to the alarming trend of antisemitism among young children. Our latest surveys show that children as young as 9 or 10 are victims of antisemitic harassment at school.
According to the report by the French Ministry of the Interior and the SPCJ, in 2024, 192 antisemitic acts committed in schools were reported, representing 12.2% of all antisemitic acts recorded this year.”

On the sidelines of Never is Now, Crif attended the J7 meetings, the working group against antisemitism that brings together the world’s seven main jewish organizations.

The group was particularly impressed by a presentation by Oren Segal, Vice President of ADL's Counterterrorism and Intelligence Department, on the state of antisemitism and extremism in the US.

*In response to the rising levels of antisemitism around the world - and at the instigation of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) - the world's seven leading Jewish organizations have formed J7, a working group against antisemitism.
