Crif press release following the Halle antisemitic attack

October 10, 2019

The German Jewish Community was struck by a terrorist attack on Yom Kippur against the synagogue in Halle.

Crif calls on the German authorities to strengthen measures to protect the institutions of the German Jewish Community and to eradicate all neo-Nazi groups.

This attack must challenge the European countries on the violence and sometimes the terrorist drifts of antisemitic, racist and xenophobic groups. Crif urges each European country to take strong measures to eliminate the plague that threatens our democracies

For Francis Kalifat, President of Crif, "the two attacks perpetrated in one week in France and Germany demonstrate the dangers of extremism. They are a threat to our democracy and our way of life. The governments must imperatively implement the means for an effective policy of fighting those individuals who threaten European democracies. "

Crif addresses its support and solidarity to the Jewish Community of Germany and its compassion to the families of the victims.
