Dear M Cukierman,

I am the chairman of the New West Synagogue in Bayswater, London. On behalf of our community I write to express our solidarity with and heartfelt sympathy for, the French Jewish community. White none of us have ever been so naïve as to think that anti-Semitism had died out in Europe the racist violence offered to innocent French Jews is as horrible as it is unjustified.

As co-religionists, as our brothers and sisters, know that we share your outrage and disappointment that after all our people have suffered at the hands of the unreasoning and the ignorant, the brutish and the malevolent, stil[, even now, the hatred for the Jew finds expression in the ugly mob.

Your community should be proud of how it has defended itself and maintained its dignity. We pray that all French Jews may live their [ives as citizens of a great country in peace and quiet and not under any sort of threat simply by reason of their faith.
