AJC Unites Global Jewish Community in Call to Action Against Antisemitism

Recognizing that this moment requires an international, whole-of-society approach, AJC has convened a coalition of global Jewish leaders and partners to mobilize and empower their governments and communities to take bold action against surging anti-Jewish hate. Antisemitism threatens not only Jews but everyone. Left unchecked it will undermine universal values and freedoms.

AJC CEO Ted Deutch was joined at the opening plenary of AJC Global Forum 2024 by Jewish leaders from around the world to announce AJC’s Global Call to Action Against Antisemitism. The Call to Action is signed by 47 organizations representing 35 countries and three multi-country umbrella organizations.

"It’s time to declare a global state of emergency for the Jewish people. The same hate infecting America's society is making inroads in Chile, Spain, France, and elsewhere. The response to this crisis must be global. It must cover all parts of society and it must be applied in a nonpartisan manner. We are at an inflection point and our actions will have far-reaching impacts on the global Jewish community for decades to come," said AJC CEO Ted Deutch.

"Today, I am proud to announce AJC’s Global Call to Action Against Antisemitism, signed by 47 Jewish communities around the world. Throughout our more than 100 years of advocacy on behalf of the Jewish people, AJC has seen that as a united community, we are far stronger than the antisemitic hate that seeks and threatens to divide our democratic societies. Together, we will answer the call, and shape a new future, a better future, for everyone."

Building on the success of previous AJC action plans in Europe and America, AJC’s Global Call to Action Against Antisemitism provides practical policies and action items that governments, social media companies and influencers, schools and colleges, organizations, businesses, media companies and journalists, faith leaders, civil society, and individual community members can adopt in an effort to curb antisemitism.

AJC recently released its newly updated and expanded Call to Action Against Antisemitism, a Society-Wide Nonpartisan Guide for America. Many of the recommendations in AJC’s original Call to Action Against Antisemitism in America were utilized by the White House for the creation of the U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, released in May 2023.
