Crif - Amsterdam: "An antisemitic lynching" after the Maccabi-Tel Aviv football match

On the night of November 7-8, 2024 in Amsterdam, dozens of Israeli Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters were lynched in the street because they were Jewish. Several people were injured in this organized manhunt and others are reportedly missing. Crif President Yonathan Arfi reacted on X and in the media to denounce this “antisemitic lynching.”

On X, Crif President Yonathan Arfi reacted to these scenes of extreme violent aggressions on Israelis:

"The scenes of aggression of Israelis last night in Amsterdam are a pure antisemitic lynching. Supporters had to shout "I am not Jewish" to try to escape the violence of their attackers.

"Free Palestine" has unfortunately become a hateful rallying cry, distorted to justify unacceptable violence.

Let us not be mistaken: these Israelis were attacked because they are Jewish.

This is an immense challenge to Europe."

On French media RMC, Yonathan Arfi reiterated how "we have seen the most disgusting antisemitism resurface". "Today, the exploitation of the conflict in Gaza by activists allows the most sordid hatred to be justified." stressed Crif President.

Yonathan Arfi recalled that this violence was predictable and that it was a challenge that was launched to Europe "in the way of curbing this antisemitic hatred that finds new ways of expressing itself every day".
