Following the despicable murder of 85-year-old Jewish woman Mireille Knoll at her home in Paris, Crif calls for a rally in her memory and support for her family. This gathering will be the expression of the compassion of all the French. Let's be many, tonight, Wednesday, March 28, at 6:30pm on the Place de la Nation, 75012 Paris.
Friday, March 23, 2018, Mireille Knoll was murdered at his Paris home.
Everyone knows Mireille. It is this lovely grandmother, this smiling and quiet neighbor, this old lady who comes out just a little bit and enjoys the company of her family. It is this 85-year-old lady, who escaped the Rafle du Vel d'Hiv and who has lived for 60 years in the same apartment Avenue Philippe Auguste in Paris. Mireille is Jewish. For this very reason, Mireille was stabbed 11 times by her neighbor. For this very reason, Mireille was then burned in the fire that her attacker triggered at home. From her life, from her memories, nothing remains.
Almost a year to the day after the murder of Sarah Halimi, anti-Semitic barbarism has struck again. More than mourning and bruising the French Jewish community, it is the entire national community that this despicable assassination revolts and annihilates.
The same day, a few hundred kilometers away, another terrorist took the life of four Frenchmen, in Carcassonne, then in Trèbes, during a terrifying hostage-taking. France, once again, is mourning its dead and suffering Islamist terrorism.
In tribute to Mireille Knoll, Crif took the initiative to organize a rally, on March 28, at 6:30pm, Place de la Nation in Paris. This gathering was quickly joined by a large number of organizations, associations and institutions who in turn called to participate in this mobilization. The event transcended the boundaries of the Jewish community and spread to the French national community. It is with emotion and gratitude that Crif sees new participants added minute by minute.
Together, let's gather against hatred. Together, let's walk to honor the memory of our missing. And together, let's be united against terrorism.
