Cukierman to the AIPAC Congress: America is mobilizing against Iran

The conference, which took place in Washington from 11-13 March, brought together 6,200 participants including numerous members of the Senate and the House of Representatives. This AIPAC conference was particularly focused against the Iranian nuclear threat and in favor of economic sanctions against companies working with Iran. To convince Iran to give up its claim to nuclear weapons, the American administration, together with Congress, went further than the boycott decisions taken by the UN Security Council, and decided to sanction companies who are active in Iran. Already, the State of Missouri has refused financial papers to BNP, which is accused of being active in Iran, and it has excluded from its 46 billion dollar pension fund portfolio those companies who have a link with Iran. Among the companies targeted, we may note the French companies Total, BNP, Renault and Peugeot. Numerous companies have already stopped or have seriously reduced their relations with Iran: ABN, Crédit Suisse, UBS, Société Générale, HSBC, Barclays and British Petroleum.
