Mayor Delanoë and Cukierman: Remember Dreyfus

The principle of this meeting was adopted at a dinner given by the Mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoë in honour of CRIF President Roger Cukierman.

Unjustly sentenced for espionage on behalf of Germany, this officer born in Mulhouse in 1859 into a long-established Alsatian Jewish family, had been cashiered at the Invalides barracks and sent to a penal colony. After a very long legal process, which deeply split French public opinion at the time, Dreyfus was reinstated into the army on 17 July 1906, and later awarded the Legion of Honour.

The preparation for this event has been entrusted to Guillaume Houzel, a member of the Mayor of Paris’ staff, and to Haim Musicant, general director of CRIF.
