Religious buildings have been targeted by arsonists during the recent riots. Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin called Roger Cukierman after a synagogue was targeted by a petrol bomb at Pierrefitte, in the Seine-Saint-Denis département just north of Paris. Two churches were also hit, as well as two mosques.
