A JOINT DELEGATION OF FRENCH PROTESTANTS AND CRIF TO ISRAEL

A joint delegation of the French Protestant Federation (FPF) and the CRIF, will be going to Israel this autumn. This mission has been organized by the FPF-CRIF liaison group, which had already organized a symposium on “Jews and Protestants in France”, in 2004 at the Maison du Protestantisme in Paris.

Jean-Arnold de Clermont, FPF President, reaffirmed the fact that “relations with French Judaism” are developing. He announced that a joint theological work group between the French Protestant Federation and the Jewish Consistory would be set up during September.

Concerning the conflict in the Near East, Jean-Arnold de Clermont has said that his intention, thanks to the relations with Judaism, was to “understand the theological role of the State of Israel”. “We need to consider this dual reality of a State, that is necessarily profane for a typical Frenchman such as me, but also a State that has theological impact for us Christians. We are obviously aware that Christianity is anchored in Judaism,” he added.
