Alliot-Marie and the appeal against the verdict in the Fofana trial: “My criteria are the interests of society and public peace”

Michèle Alliot-Marie reckoned that “an early release of persons who committed such a barbaric crime may well send a negative signal to all who trivialise violence.” She added that after the verdict she had noted that “in a few months time, some of those who had participated most actively in this murder” might well “be back on the streets of the estates” where the events had taken place. “My criteria are the interests of society and public peace”, she said.
