CRIF welcomes President Obama’s speech

Richard Prasquier noted that Barack Obama said that any demonization of Islam was unacceptable, but that it could not be represented by organisations such as Al-Qaida and Hamas.

The President of CRIF noted with satisfaction that American support for the State of Israel was strong, and that the US President appealed to the protagonists in this conflict to recognise Israel.

For Richard Prasquier it was normal that there should be differences of appraisal between friendly States, while acknowledging that the Israeli government position was based on security considerations.

Richard Prasquier publicly reaffirmed his traditional position of support for two States, “it being understood that these would be a Hebrew State and a Palestinian State, and not a Palestinian State and another that would become Palestinian after the return of the refugees.”
