Musicant: the free world has pushed back those who wanted to reproduce Durban I

Recalling that CRIF had been mobilising since August 2007, starting with a meeting with French Prime Minister François Fillon, Haim Musicant insisted on the relentless political action undertaken by his organisation right up to the last moment, even in Geneva.

He insisted on the fact that everyone – diplomats, civil society, non governmental organisations, intellectuals – had mobilised to prevent Durban II from being a remake of Durban I.

CRIF’s General Director emphasised that there had been a distribution of roles among the countries of the free world, each one adopting a different tactic. But they all remained faithful to their principles in being determined to push back those whose dream was to reproduce Durban I.

CRIF, which had been accredited for Durban II, had for over two years been in contact with the French authorities but also with the embassies of other countries and with the Jewish community in Geneva.
