When the announcement of André Vingt-Trois’s appointment was made by the Pope on 17th October, CRIF’s General Director, Haim Musicant, paid tribute to “the man of faith, loyalty and dialogue”, underlining the role he has played in bringing Jews and Catholics closer together. Richard Prasquier later congratulated Cardinal Vingt-Trois for his election as President of the French Bishops' Conference on 5th November in Lourdes. The President of CRIF had on that occasion insisted on “his deep friendship towards our community”.
